I am Dr. Haider Shah. Currently I teach at Hertfordshire Business School on various undergraduate and postgraduate programmes of study. Before joining academia I worked for the Government of Pakistan as I had joined Civil Services (Customs & Excise Group) in 1991 after completing Civil Engineering degree from University of Engineering & Technology, Peshawar.
I have done my doctorate from Warwick Business School, U.K., Graduate Diploma in Law (LLB) from College of Law (U.K), MBA from University of Nottingham, Post Graduate Certificate in Higher Education Teaching from University of Hertfordshire (U.K), M.A (Economics) from University of Peshawar (Pakistan).
I write ‘Over a Coffee’ column for The Daily Times, Lahore and ‘Qissa Khwani’ column for The Mashriq, Peshawar.
In 2010 I laid the foundation of an internet based community of freethinking rationalists of Pakistan as “Rationalist Society of Pakistan’ (RSOP). Young and educated Pakistanis who sincerely want to see their country prosper are the vanguard of this organisation and have helped the organisation earn respect of Pakistani intelligentsia even though the organisation works on voluntarily basis without any financial support. It is hoped that like Sir Syed’s Aligarh movement, RSOP is destined to help Pakistan utilise its physical and human resources to their true potential by thinking rationally.
